MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE

It is with profound sorrow that the Hellenic Greek International School (HGIS) community announces the passing of our respectful, and dearly beloved student, Mathias Kassaye Hadgu.

Mathias was an exceptional learner—a student of rare intellect, discipline, and depth of character. Gifted with multiple intelligences and a voracious curiosity for knowledge, he consistently demonstrated academic excellence and intellectual maturity far beyond his years. In the June 2024 Cambridge IGCSE Examination Series, Mathias achieved seven A* grades—an extraordinary accomplishment that stands as a lasting testament to his unwavering dedication, focus, and perseverance.

Throughout his academic journey, Mathias personified the true spirit of excellence, integrity, and growth. He embraced every challenge with determination, engaged every idea with an open and analytical mind, and treated every conversation as an opportunity to learn, reflect, and connect. His multilingual fluency and cultural awareness enabled him to approach complex ideas with depth, balance, and empathy—valuing dialogue over disagreement, and understanding over assumption.

Mathias was not only a brilliant scholar but also a young man of remarkable kindness, humility, and grace. His interactions with peers and teachers were marked by respect, warmth, and genuine thoughtfulness. He was admired for his insightful mind, loved for his gentle heart, and respected for his calm confidence and authenticity.

To his teachers, Mathias was a joy to teach—curious, engaged, and inspiring. To his classmates, he was a trusted friend, a source of encouragement, and a model of perseverance. His presence enriched the HGIS community in countless ways, and his absence leaves a void that words can scarcely fill.

The Hellenic Greek International School extends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Mathias’s family and friends during this profoundly difficult time.
